Psalm 117 Author unknown. No instructions for the singing of this Psalm. A Solemn call to all nations to Phrase God. It casts a favorable eye to the Gentiles and the proper manner of phrase is suggested.
Best known for its "sweetness" not its "shortness". It is a favorite of Gentile sinners who find their plight favorably described here. The instructions to all, Israel, Aaron and all who fear the Lord (Gentiles) are the same, "Proclaim that the mercies of God endure forever." We learn something about brevity in this Psalm, stressing sincerity rather than hypocrisy in the speaking of many words. Phrase should be kindled and kept burning by enthusiasm and sincerity.
