Psalm 125 is another one of the Psalms of Degrees where the Psalmist phrases the righteous and condemns the wicked. He sums up the words of the Prophet Isaiah (Isa. 3:10) "Say to the righteous, it shall be well with him but woe to the wicked." Thus right and wrong, evil and good as well as the Law of the Prophets are often set before us in the Psalms.
In the Psalm we have the promises of God that we shall be safe if we obey His commandments. We have His promise that the prayers of a righteous man shall be heard. This shall not be so with the wicked and particular with the hypocrites. Some Jewish scholars believe that this Psalm refers to the time of the Messiah but fail to see its application to the coming of Christ.
Certainly we, in the reading of this Psalm, can take comfort in it and claim the promises here in by faith in Jesus Christ.
