Psalm 127 is another Psalm of Degrees. It appears to have been a plea by David to Solomon to look to God as the source of his wisdom. Some attribute the Psalm to Solomon while others believe it was written by David. This is called a "Family Psalm" as apposed to the others being national or religious Psalms. It appears to have been titled, "For Solomon". David realized that Solomon had a Temple to build, a city to maintain and a linage to uphold, so he urges Solomon to look to God for his help and depend upon His providence without which, all his wisdom, wealth and prestige would amount to nothing.
A careful reading of this Psalm seems to leave you with the opinion that Solomon did indeed write the Psalm. It compares favorably with the Song of Solomon and parts of Ecclesiastes which Solomon also wrote. It is a plea as well as a declaration of dependence on God for wisdom, wealth and heirs.
In the reading of this Psalm we to must seek God and His favor in the completion of our duties and the planning of our lives as Solomon did for his wisdom is something to be emulated.
