Psalm 130 is another Psalm of Degrees and deals with the affairs of a man's soul. It is one of seven Psalms of repentance that were used by new converts upon their admission into the church. In the Psalm the "penitent" expresses his desire to please God, he expresses his sorrow for his sins and his desire to serve and be obedient to God. He also states his expectations that he has of God in forgiveness and restoration.
In the reading of this Psalm we are to sincerely repent of our sins and seek the Lord's forgiveness and like the penitent in the Psalm, expect forgiveness and help from the Lord.
