Psalm 134 is the end of the 15 Psalms of Degrees or Ascents. If, as some believe, all 15 of these Psalms were song at one time then it is fitting that the last one should instruct the Priests to remember that after the services were over their work did not end but continued into the night.
The Psalm seems to be a dialogue. The first verses instruct the Priests and Levites who set up all night to not spend their time in idle chatter but to spend it in prayer and devotion. The last verses we hear those who spent the night in meditation, seek the prayers of those who issued the instructions.
In the reading of this Psalm we might apply it to our times of worship, are we as much in prayer and devotion as we might be? Are we are appreciative of our instructors as we should be?
