In this chapter Christ, the Bridegroom, expresses his delight and love for Hid Bride, the Church. Here the Bridegroom calls the Bride the "Princes Daughter". Signifying that she was born from above, begotten of the Father and His workmanship. He tells of His delight in communication with her and her with Him. He delights also in the fruits of her works and the obedience she has of His commandments.
In return, the Bride, the Church, declares that she will boast in His name always. She declares that she belongs to Him not to herself. All that she is or ever will be she credits to the Bridegroom. She seeks His presence continually. She proclaims His knowledge. She seeks a better understanding of those things that pertain to her soul. She promises to Him the best of worship and obedience to Him for His sake.
