Alice Miller married Jim Miller, and Jim's son Max became her stepson. As Jim or Roger, Jim's brother, would beat Max, Alice seemed to not see what was going on. They moved into their present home about 5 years ago, and attend church at St. Augustines. |

Jim commits suicide, and Alice is heartbroken. Roger helps to comfort her that night, and the next day neighbors came by with food to try to help. Two young junior priests came by to help offer some condolences. Roger is rude to them, so she offers her apologies and coffee. They talk a bit on the couch, before one offers to go talk with Max, who found his father. The second one asks odd questions about the house, but they don't have any headaches with the house, before he asks to go to the bathroom. She directs him upstairs.
Later, after that horrible accident with Roger, Max confronts her about the abuse while she is preparing food. She reminds him that she didn't do anything, but Max points out that she didn't stop them. Then the Fathers came bursting into her house, confusing her. They ask to talk privately with Max for a bit outside, which he agrees to, and starts to head outside with them. However, the door slams, and the window shades all shut. One of the priests pulls a gun, which then goes flying across the room to Max, who picks it up to hold on both of the priests. She asks Max what's happening, and what was he doing. Max tells her to shut up, before flinging her across the room to hit the kitchen island and she is knocked unconscious.
She is very groggy when she is picked up and taken upstairs. The priest is very gentle with her, trying to clean the blood and get it to stop bleeding. Max comes in, and the priest heads towards Max but is picked up and flung against the wall. Max pulls the gun out of his pocket, and then floats it. The priest starts forward once more, but stops. The gun cocks, then turns towards her. The priest steps in front of her to protect her, but Max tells him to stay back. He responds if Max wants her, Max will have to go through him, first. Just then, the second priest shows up, trying to talk Max down. Max turns the gun on himself and commits suicide.
The police and paramedics show up. She tells them that the priests were family friends that she called because she was scared when Max showed up with the gun. That they fought for the gun. She didn't know where the gun had come from, breaking down crying as she realizes she lost everyone.
