Mrs. Rourke is the mother of Layla Rourke, and they both have been coming faithfully to Rev. Roy LeGrange's services for some time, for Layla to be healed. |

Before one of the services, Layla stops to talk with two brothers. Mrs. Rourke approaches her and puts her arm around her daughter, urging her to come inside. They sit near the front, in the hopes that Roy LeGrange will choose Layla to be healed this time. However, he chooses one of the strangers, Dean. Layla leans over to comfort her mother.
The next day Mrs. Rourke insists on going to Rev. LeGrange to get him to heal Layla, but when they arrive Dean is leaving. Sue Ann LeGrange tells them that Roy is resting and won't see anyone else. Sue Ann goes back inside, and Mrs. Rourke turns her frustration on Dean, asking why he gets to live when her daughter doesn't. If only Roy would quit choosing strangers over Layla!
The next service Roy doesn't choose Layla, but the service after that he does. Mrs. Rourke is ecstatic, and tells Layla she loves her as Layla heads up to the stage. Dean stops Layla to talk with her, and Layla looks back at her mother, but she continues onto the stage. But before Roy could heal Layla, Dean calls “Fire” and the service is stopped. Mrs. Rourke finds Roy outside in the commotion, and he promises that he will heal Layla that evening in a special service.
Mrs. Rourke comes back that evening with Layla, and Roy LeGrange prays over her daughter, but it didn't work - Layla isn't healed.
